Pioneer Peach: Changing the Perceptions of Cats
A story of a little cat that could… and did! Last summer when we could leave the house and attend events, we had a booth at one of our favorite cat conventions, Meow Meetup in Chicago. In between presentations and talking to the lovely attendees about all things cat, I love to browse the fellow vendors. I stopped at a booth and met Dr. Anne Beall. She is an author and researcher who writes about communication between people and animals, among other interesting topics.
I was attracted by the sign in front of the booth that said, “tell me about your cat!” Well, I mean, if someone is asking… I’ll take an opportunity to talk about cats! At the time, we just had Peach, so it was a natural choice.
Besides that, Peach is my absolute heart and soul. She is the reason that I became interested in cat training, became a cat person, and ultimately turned into a mentally stable cat lady.
I could talk about the special relationship that Peach and I share, about how she defies the expectations that people have for cats, and how she honestly changed my life and career.
But …
I’ll let you read that in our chapter!
Dr. Anne Beall wrote a book called “Heroic, Helpful and Caring Cats: Felines Who Make a Difference” and featured Peach and me in one of the chapters among a diverse group of seriously amazing cats.
It is an honor to have our relationship published in “Chapter 5: Peach, pushing the boundaries of what we believe cats can do.” The title of the chapter itself makes me both incredibly proud of my amazing little orange cat, but also a bit emotional for just how much she has had an impact on my life.
Cheers to women’s best friend, Peach, who has made sure I haven’t showered, slept, worked, watched tv, trained or even peed alone since 2017.
I won’t go into detail here, because that is for you to read in the book! If you would like to read about Peach and I and the other inspiring feline relationships, support Dr. Beall by buying this fantastic book!
